Recommendation from Work Event

Recently I coordinated a meeting at work with over 30 attendes. Dr. Delacy Ganley had these kind words to say....

Ann, boy oh boy do you do a good job in terms of inviting, making sure people know where they are going, making sure the name tags are ready, etc. The meeting was well attended and this is a testament to your relationship-building and logistical skills. The welcome table looked great and the food was divine. Well done!!!

Thank you to all who attended and enjoyed the event, it isn't every day you can say you enjoy going to a meeting!

Recommendation from Ruby and Jay

A big congrads again to Ruby and Jay! Thank you so much for letting me chare your special day. I wanted to share Ruby's kind words with everyone...

I wanted to send a HUGE thank you to you! Jay and I were fully able to enjoy our day and our guests because of you. I can honestly say that I felt completely confident in leaving things in your hands. You and your sister were working so hard-- always on the move! You were able to handle our very large wedding party effortlessly, especially at the church when everyone had to get their flowers and line up. I was also glad to see you right before my walk down the isle-- that breath mint really calmed my nerves :). The reception was decorated perfectly! Thank you for executing the vision in my head. You were so thoughtful in making sure we had something to eat even before the reception started. As the night progressed, you always kept us on schedule, and also worked our crowd into signing our guestbook! Nice! At the end of the night, we really appreciated all the clean-up you had to do. I know that there were tons of votives to pack up and those tall centerpieces were immensely heavy! Last but not least, we were ever so delighted to have a meal and two pieces of our wedding cake waiting for us in our room! I was also amazed at how organized things were when you packed everything for us at the end of the night. (You and I just love organization)

You also made quite an impression on the family! They really loved you and told me that hiring you was the best idea ever :)

The wedding planning process was an incredible journey. Thank you for tolerating my neurosis, insanely long emails, nit-picky timeline, and all our phone conferences. If there were any issues at all, I don't know about them, because you were there. Thank you for doing your job with such grace and ease. It really shows you like wedding planning! It would be my pleasure to be a reference for your potential clients.

Sincerely,
Ruby

Words of Thanks...

I wanted to share a wonderful thank you letter I received from one of my recent brides, Kelli, who has a gorgeous wedding in Temecula several weeks ago:

Hi Ann,
We are back from the honeymoon and rested up now, so I just wanted to take some time to thank you for everything you did for us! You did such an amazing job and it was such a relief having you there and knowing that everything was taken care of.

Everything, with the exception of the DJ (which was beyond your control) went perfect and it was all because you were behind the scenes, making sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to do. I was actually able to eat my dinner, dance and enjoy my own wedding, which alot of brides don't get to do because they are so worried about everything! And thank you for packing everything up for us as well! It was nice just to be able to leave and get back to our room because we were pretty tired! And it was was so awesome that you saved us some food and cake and put it in the room because we were sooo hungry from dancing all night!

I could not recommend you more and if you want to use me as a reference, please feel free to do so. It was a pleasure working with you and I will be sure to recommend you to other Knotties! Thanks again!

4 ways to throw a champagne wedding on a sparkling-cider budget

4 ways to throw a champagne wedding on a sparkling-cider budget

Go for the memory-making touches.
“Think about the traditions and quirks that make you unique as a couple,” says Jung Lee, owner of the high-profile event planning and decor firm Fête and author of Fête: The Wedding Experience. “Hire a great band you saw on a date, or serve the biscuits from your favorite restaurant. These small, and often inexpensive, personal touches make the day extra memorable.”

Skip the major flowers.
“They can be so expensive,” says Lee, who had one client who ordered $600,000 in table decorations. For something unexpected and chic, “fill clear cylinders with water and float candles in them. Or, like I did at one fall wedding, line the table with soy candles and baby pears.”

Create mood lighting.
“Bright lighting screams convention center or catering hall,” says Lee. If the location doesn't have dimmers, ask if you can use amber or soft pink bulbs. “Or just turn off every other light to make things look richer.”

Know where you can skimp.
One thing that nobody will miss? Favors. “Brides obsess over them, but I've never heard a guest say, ‘That was the best favor I've ever gotten!’” points out Lee. You can cut out the extra desserts, too. “Cake is more than enough.”

We hosted a dinner for 70 people under a beautiful arbor and got to tour the historic property (for more information on Upland History and old homes, check out my other blog, http://uplandvintagehome.blogspot.com/).

Although the grounds are not officially open to receptions, the owners are willing to work with brides one on one to see if they can accommodate your party. It is a beautiful setting for both ceremony and/or reception.

William S Hart Park is located in Newhall, right where the 5 and 14 split. It is a beautiful ranch with wedding space up to 150. Lots of good photo opportunities!

A meeting hall has been built near the park entrance on San Fernando Road that will hold almost 300 people for meetings and about 150 for sit down dinners. The building was formerly a "pole barn" and is sometimes still affectionately referred to by that name -- the poles were incorporated as an architectural element and are still visible.
The Hart Hall can be rented for parties, meetings, weddings and community functions. Fees include set up and clean up. It includes a "caterer's kitchen," a public address system and an outside patio. For information, call 661-259-0855

William S. Hart Park is less than an hour's drive from most areas of Los Angeles. It is the former home and ranch of William S. Hart, silent film cowboy star and director. The Museum sits atop a hill within a large park area. The Spanish colonial Revival style mansion contains original furnishings, an impressive collection of western art, mementos of early Hollywood and Native American artifacts. In addition, there is a furnished 1910 ranch house which is open for unguided tours. For more information, please call (661) 254-4584 or email us at information@hartmuseum.org.

Costco Wedding Flowers

At Amanda and Paul's wedding in May they ordered all of there wedding flowers from costco.com.

http://www.costco.com/Service/FeaturePage.aspx?ProductNo=11273973

The flowers were beautiful, stayed nice all day long and were a great value! Prices start around $400 for complete bridal party flowers. Centerpiece flowers are also available. The photo above was taken of the flowers at Amanda and Paul's wedding.

Simple Shell Centerpieces

For the Upland Heritage picnic this afternoon I made a simple shell centerpiece that would be a perfect low budget non floral centerpiece for any occasion. I put paver sand (found at Home Depot/Lowe's for less then $4 for a 50 pound bag, makes about 20 to 25 centerpieces), fish bowls ($1 at most craft stores or dollar stores) and simply put a large sea shell on top of the sand. You could dress it up with ribbon or colored glass beads as well.
I already had the shells, but even if you purchased them, for less then $3 a piece you have a very cute, simple and elegant center piece.
