Cool blog...

http://www.rocknrollbride.com/

I came across this blog today, lots of cool non traditional ideas!

A little about the site:
Rock ‘n Roll Bride promotes individuality and general awesomeness in a cookie cutter, pastel pink, poufy dressed wedding world. Don’t let the wedding industry define your day – let *you* define your day.

Rock ‘n Roll Bride began as an unknown, personal wedding blog – a place for me to gather my wedding planning thoughts and ideas for myself. After our wedding in April 2008, I realised I rather liked this blogging malarkey and so decided continue gathering and posting stuff I loved and hoped others would also enjoy.

Rock n Roll Bride is all about the charm and unique nature of ordinary people’s, extraordinary weddings.

Help needed...

Help is needed for a local IE "nestie" and formar "knottie" who tragically passed away in childbirth last week. Please see below for how you can help...

My amazing nesties have done it again.

1.) A P.O. Box was ser up today to accept formula checks (any brand, even checks that are expired!) and diaper coupons (or even gift cards to places like Target!) -- basically anything that can fit in an envelope. Anything not used will be donated to The Liz Logelin Foundation. The address is:The Jewelyn Okamoto Memorial FundP.O. Box 235971Encinitas, CA 92023-59712.)

2.) A memorial fund was set up at Arrowhead Credit Union today, and checks can be made out to The Jewelyn Okamoto Memorial Fund. They can be mailed to:The Jewelyn Okamoto Memorial FundP.O. Box 235971Encinitas, CA 92023-59713.) An address for those who want to send packages (larger than an envelope) has been established. This address can accept shipments from UPS, Fed Ex, etc., unlike the P.O. Box:Brandi Futrellc/o The Jewelyn Okamoto Memorial Fund14928 S. Maple AvenueGardena, CA 902484.) And for those who would like to contribute via PayPal, that email address is 4jewelyn@gmail.com.5.)

3.) And the yardsale just continues to grow.Sat Oct 3rd 7am-till whenever people stop coming4Jewels Yardsale31135 Larchwood St, Menifee, CA 92584 The support we have received for Jewelyn's family has been incredible. I am positive that Philip will be absolutely overwhelmed and appreciative. Here is what he posted on our local message board after hearing about the outpouring of support:Jewelyn was so loved. I've been receiving messages to look at this board. I have never posted here before but I know Jewelyn was on it religiously. She considered everyone here a part of her family that have gone through so much together. Gabrielle will be in nicu till the end of the week but she looks beautiful. Just like her mommy. I wanted to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family fund is something I would never have expected anyone to do for us. Before she slipped away I told her how loved she was. I don't think she realized just how much.Thank you all.Jewelyn's husband Philip

Thanks again to my IE friends for helping to get all of these efforts off the ground, and thanks to everyone reading for your support.

DIY Photo Booth

David Cline, a 19-year-old university student in the Philadelphia area, used his computer wizardry to give his sister a fantastic present for her wedding.
She had wanted to get a photo booth for the reception, so that guests could take home photo-strip mementos of the occasion and she could have copies of the images for her own picture album. But renting a digital booth -- like the ones used in arcades that have also become popular for special occasions -- for a day would have cost nearly $2,000.
Instead, David cleverly used his Macbook laptop, a $99 printer, an old wardrobe frame and some Ikea shower curtains for a do-it-yourself photo booth.
On his blog, you can see a video of it in operation on the big day.
He programmed the computer (using the free Automator program that comes with late-model Macs) so that guests were prompted to enter their names on the laptop. Three pictures were taken, which were printed on a strip to take home. The pictures were also saved on the computer for his sister.
Judging by the video, guests sometimes took the opportunity to make goofy poses, just like in a real photo booth, and all seemed to be having a good time. Maybe more so than just posing for a photographer.
Cline is distributing the program he used on his site for a donation of any size. And by the way, his DIY photo booth is available for rent in his area. He's also a DJ and a freelance violinist who will play for special occasions.
This guy knows how to party.

Craigslist Find of the Week!

I have a total of 24 black organza table overlays. I used them for my own wedding, but they could be used for any type of party/event. 2 of them are more like a tight mesh, however you can only tell the difference if they are right next to the organza ones. All of the overlays are trimmed with a serged edge in red (looks like a tiny rope of red). The edging could be changed by re-serging them if need be. I used them gathered on the table, so I can not guarantee that they are a perfect square/rectangle. If you are interested please email or call Janet at 714-720-1646. Asking $60.00 OBO I need to get rid of these!

B-Party! Glen Ivy and The Bra Lady

I had a wonderful time today celebrating Sarah's last day as a single lady! We started at Glen Ivy and ended at The Bra Lady in Upland for food, drinks and lingerie. Had a blast hanging out with friends and enjoying the sun! Wedding is less then 2 weeks away, so much to do!

How much is this going to cost me?!?!?

Glen Ivy is $52 a person for Friday thru Monday. Plenty of "free" stuff to do around without paying for extra services. Lunch is pricey but good. Check out Tom's Farms on your way back to the freeway!

The Bra Lady, All sizes and styles from a 28a to a 52J in stock! $200 purchase minimum to host a private party. Lot's of lingerie to choose from and of course there great selection of bras. They are very open to whatever you want to do. We brought in food, music and some drinks and had the place to ourselves for 3 hours.

Harp Music

http://moirastern.com/

Moira performs with a full size golden concert grand harp, and plays all the standard marches and processionals. With selections from easily recognizable classical music such as Pachelbel’s Canon in D as well as solo harp renditions of contemporary popular music like Enya’s “Only Time” and Sting’s “Fields of Gold.” For more uptempo events, such as parties and receptions, she also can play “Stairway to Heaven” and “Clocks” by Coldplay.
As a classically trained singer with many years of experience she can sing operatic numbers popularized by Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman including “Nessun Dorma,” “Un Bel Di” and “O Mio Babbino Caro,” as well as the more familiar “Time To Say Goodbye” (Con te partiro) and “The Prayer.”

Rollasole

Ladies! Be on the lookout for these cool new vending machines while you are out at your B-partys! They may just save your soles....

"The idea came to Horan after many nights carrying his girlfriend home from the clubs. It wasn’t easy finding a UK vending machine supplier to work with, however, so Horan revamped recycled cigarette machines. He introduced his product at six Luminar venues around England in May 2008 — and his business took off running. In about a year, he’s sold 60,000 pairs, expanded his distribution to Ibiza, and gotten in on the wedding market. Next up, he says, “We will be testing the concept on the U.S. market on a small scale in New York and L.A.” Participating venues will be finalized next month."

Wear a White Knot

www.whiteknot.org

The White Knot is the symbol for support of Marriage Equality—the right for any loving couple regardless of gender to be married under the civil laws of the state and the country. Everyone should have the right to tie the knot.

Marriage Equality is a vital civil right denied to most same-sex couples except in that handful of states where it has finally been recognized. It is vital because marriage is about committed couples—all committed couples—who want to make a lifelong promise to take care of and be responsible for each other. This can only strengthen family and society. This is why Marriage Equality is important to everyone.

It’s not just about the word Marriage. Denying committed couples the security and legal protections of marriage hurts them. It’s just plain wrong to make it harder for them to take care of and be responsible for each other. The institution of civil marriage offers equal protection under the law when it comes to taxes, health care and decision-making, employment benefits, and perhaps most importantly, raising healthy and happy children.

So I ask you to join me today in showing your support for Marriage Equality and equal rights under the law for everyone. Wear a White Knot every day. Tell people why you are wearing it. And if you can, hand out White Knots to those around you.

For more information, go to www.whiteknot.org. There you can find out how to get White Knots, make your own, get more information about the issues, and even donate to help spread the word.

Thanks.

Jennifer and Juan, Mission Inn Hotel, April 4th

Jennifer & Juan, April 4, 2009, Mission Inn Hotel, Riverside, CA

Where do I begin, Ann, was amazing as a Day of Wedding Coordinator, DOC! I found her on a local wedding board, and is was the MOST money well spent for our wedding day! As most brides, I was a control freak in the planning of our wedding...and my biggest thing, was I wanted to have fun on my weddiing and be worry FREE!! I had heard about heard about a DOC, but thought they might be too pricey, especially for our budget...but I found Ann from the Good Bridesmaids, after a fellow knottie posted a review, on the local Knot.com board. My fiance, then, and I met with her, and we LOVED the service, her organization skills, and the PRICE! My husband's exact words were, "If you can keep her (me), from freaking out about everything the day of the wedding..then its a service that needs to be added to the budget"...
Ann helped me out with a few pre-wedding questions, rehearsal ceremony, and of course day of the wedding. She began at 12pm and lasted till almost midnight! She went above and beyond for us, that day...and of course when things went wrong, and she took care of it without causing any stress on me! She was a coordinator, waitress, florist assistant, bell desk girl, and etc...waaayyyy more then I ever anticipated for the role! She took care of myself, Juan, his family, my family, the bridal party, and our guest...She kept us in the loop of changes that we requested, or things the vendors wanted to change...we gave approval or non-approval and she cared out our request to a T!
The craziest moment, was when minutes before the ceremony was to begin, I couldnt find the marriage license...Ann and my Maid of Honor ran around the hotel, and was able to search 4 rooms together and locate the license! Thank goodness. We had a GREAT wedding, and it was definitely the role she played the day of the wedding that had all our hardwork and planning come together! Thank you for the service and assistance with our most special day!

PhotoBooth

http://partybooths.com/partyboothsrates.html

Check out Party Booth photos! Photo booths for weddings, etc.

We offer two different sized photobooths to choose from. Our Classic Booth is similar in size to traditional photobooths of old. It really works best with individuals and couples, but it will also handle smaller groups of up to three or four people if they squeeze together.
Our Contemporary Booth is bigger and is well suited for weddings in that it can handle larger groups nicely, yet it still produces properly composed portraits for couples.
All of our rentals include unlimited photo booth sessions. Each session takes four pictures which are then printed moments later on a single 4x6 index print for your guests to keep. Additionally, all of our rentals include a photo booth attendant who will be present during the entire rental period to help your guests operate and enjoy their photo booth experience.
